Provide something different and unique for your clients.

Adding this new technique to your repertoire is a must for every massage therapist. A scalp and/or face massage is adored by many. Watch as your clients begin requesting longer sessions to specifically include this treatment at the end.

This blend still follows the ancient Indian style but also uses other modern techniques which are well suited for people in our modern fast paced lives. Its benefits are unquestioned.

 The Modernized version of this massage is a combination of Traditional style and more modern techniques to have a more therapeutic approach. The major differences are;

·  The client is lying flat on the massage table (this allows you to provide the massage as an "add on" to their normal therapy).

·  Two variations are taught in the Modern version, the traditional relaxation as well as a deeper more therapeutic version.

Rocktape Kinesiology Training Courses

Rocktape’s taping protocol is quickly becoming the standard for kinesiology taping in the medical industry.  The Rocktape courses are Australia’s most popular kinesiology tape courses.  In 2014 we conducted in excess of 60 full and half day courses, attended by more than 1,500 people.  Why the interest?

Unlike other methods, Rocktape’s taping protocol is based on an ‘open-source’ philosophy; we don’t believe there’s only one right way to tape.  We welcome applications and techniques that others have developed.  This community based approach to taping integrates concepts from all other methods and provides a framework for the practitioner to determine the best approach.

We have now developed several different options to provide education about kinesiology taping.

  1. The full day courses remain our principal method of introducing the concept of kinesiology taping to the majority of practitioners, as well as teaching them the concepts of “Power Taping”, utilising the benefits of kinesiology taping to tape the muscles associated with a particular activity, linking the muscles of the appropriate kinetic chain, ie lower back, hamstring and calf muscles that make up the posterior chain.  Investment – $290, or $190 for under graduate students.
  2. Our half day courses are attractive to busy practitioners, and those that are just keen to learn the basic principles of kinesiology taping.  These courses focus on the more commonly used Rocktape applications within the three categories of regional taping, oedema taping and postural control.  Investment – $150, or $95 for under graduate students.
  3. Rocktape 2 – a full day course for practitioners wanting to learn more kinesiology taping techniques, and have a more in depth look at the various Power Taping applications.  This course is designed for those who have already completed one of our standard courses, or who are regular users of kinesiology tape.  Investment – $290, or $190 for under graduate students.
  4. New in 2015 is Rocktape Equine – we offer both a full day course covering kinesiology taping applications for both the human and horse, and a half day course focusing on how to assist performance and recovery, during and post competition.  Investment – $390.

All courses have a significant practical component which allows an opportunity for the attendees to attempt taping numerous applications, which is important given it is quite different to rigid tape techniques.  This ensures they feel confident enough to start using Rocktape with their clients when next in the clinic, gym or sports change rooms, and they have many application ideas to use.

Upcoming full day courses

  • Adelaide – Saturday February 20

  • Melbourne – Sunday March 6

  • Sydney – Sunday March 6

  • Gold Coast – Saturday March 12

  • Brisbane – Saturday March 19

  • Canberra – Saturday March 19

  • Perth – Saturday March 19

Upcoming half day courses

CPE Made Easy - On-Line Webinars & Videos

About CPE Made Easy
As a clinical therapist, I was frustrated about the lack of ongoing clinical and business education out there available to me. I was busy caring for my clients as well as trying to maintain a social lifestyle (well, trying to anyway). Quality workshops and conferences were few and far between, and really expensive. I have a strong passion and desire to improve my knowledge to increase the care I can deliver to my clients, hence this is how CPE Made Easy was born. CPE Made Easy is system of educational webinars delivered direct to your computer or iPad each fortnight over the year and gives you around 24 hours of direct continuing professional education. The CPE Made Easy website also has a library of completed webinars which you can watch at your convenience to add extra points or simply to increase or refresh your knowledge.

Buds to Blossoms Paediatric Massage Volunteer Program

Paediatric Massage Volunteer Program with AIDS orphans in Vietnam

Spend three weeks providing paediatric massage, infant massage and other forms of bodywork to AIDS orphans in Ho Chi Minh City.

Massage is of particular benefit to these children, because of its immune system- strengthening effect. It also promotes their general well-being by providing relief from pain and anxiety and helping meet their emotional and developmental needs through one-on-one nurturing attention and touch.

During the program, volunteers get a tremendous amount of hands-on experience of providing massage to children. Although the program's focus is primarily on caring for AIDS orphans, volunteers also spend some of their time offering massage to orphans with disabilities.

CPE points : 30

DISCOVER MASSAGE AUSTRALIA

Discover Massage Australia is committed to ensuring that students learn a complete massage system for effective massage, rather than simply acquiring a set of massage strokes. Fundamental to this approach, we ensure that students are provided with all of the necessary knowledge to start a career as a massage therapist. Our range of courses offers students the ability to commence as a beginner and then advance their skills and capabilities, thereby developing into a skilful therapist, or, alternatively, to hone and improve the skill-set of therapists already at work in our industry.

We believe the massage treatment of any injury, muscular condition or relaxation session must be very thorough in nature in order to achieve maximum benefits. Thoroughness is taught and promoted in every aspect of our massage courses.

Importantly, our massage courses are endorsed by the Massage Association of Australia (MAA). At the successful completion of our Whole Body Massage Course, students are eligible for membership with the MAA, and may apply for Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Why Choose DMA?

  • Recognised Qualifications - Certificate Courses recognised by the MAA so you can start practicing immediately.
  • Our courses are 99% hands on learning. You start massaging within 15 minutes of the course commencement. We don’t sit around for half a day talking about the industry. We start you massaging.
  • Unique Techniques & Courses- DMA teaches you the best methods, systems, strokes and career/practice management skills developed by DMA.
  • Cost Effective - Our prices are among the best in the market
  • Convenience - DMA offers students a 'one stop shop' for all the other products and services required to be a therapist
  • Experience - The best teachers in the industry. Learn from highly experienced career therapists, not just academics.
  • Fun - Enjoy the vibrant, dynamic and friendly learning environment in first class facilities with accommodation in most locations. Massage therapy is a fun job so learning it should be to.

Our course pathway will enable you to begin your massage career by enrolling into our Certificate in Whole Body Massage Course. From there you can develop your skills further through our Deep Tissue and Advanced Deep Tissue training courses. Should you wish to further upgrade your knowledge and skills, we also offer the government accredited Certificate IV in Massage Therapy practice (HLT40312). The upgrade course is delivered in partnership with registered training organisational the Australian Learning Group 91165

What is taught at  DMA's Deep Tissue and Common Injuries?

We teach you how to fix injuries by using our thorough massage system and Unique Contractual Tendon release technique rather than teaching you just some remedial strokes with no sequence. If you want to be able to fix injuries and get that repeat customer then enrol into our Pathway courses. We look forward to teaching you.

What will our Pathway Courses teach you?

Each of the courses are designed to teach skills that can be applied immediately and developed further if desired. With each course we provide greater depths of understanding and technique and we support those practical skills with on-going advice and mentoring. We love to see our graduates do great things, so we do everything we can to help them.

Our massage therapy pathway will equip you with the practical skills you need to be able to offer quality, thorough and effective massage therapy to your clients.

At Discover Massage Australia we encourage and emphasise to all our students the need for continued learning, developing their skills and improving the standards of the massage industry.

Here at Discover Massage Australia we offer a 5 step practical guide to solving most muscular, tendon and ligament problems using our own proven Contractual Tendon Release & Contractual Ligament Release techniques.
